Scrap yard blaze

A black, foul-smelling cloud of smoke rose on Tuesday afternoon at around 1.30pm in Calle Malpaso in Arona, causing fears of the worst. In fact, a fire had broken out at a scrap yard for cars. Professional firefighters based in San Miguel and the voluntary fire brigade from Adeje and Guía de Isora were called out. They managed to bring the fire under control, to extinguish it and later to cool the destroyed wrecks. A total of 40 vehicles were completely burnt out.
