Dead woman's credit cards stolen
At the end of August, the National Police arrested a 29-year-old ambulance technician in Arrecife, Lanzarote, who took a woman who had collapsed unconscious on the street to hospital by ambulance. Despite the resuscitation efforts during the trip, the woman could not be revived. Shortly afterwards, the victim's ex-husband filed a complaint because a large number of debits had been made to a joint account, resulting from purchases made with two cards that the deceased had with her at the time of her death. Thus, €1,453 were debited and another payment of €2,087 was blocked by the bank. The purchases were made in different shops and hotel reservations were paid via Internet.
The police investigation led directly to a technical assistant who was on duty on the day of the victim's death and who accompanied the woman in the ambulance.
