Seven immigrant boats in only two weeks
In the last two weeks of September, seven refugee boats, so-called pateras, with 119 people on board, reached the Canary Islands. In the first nine months of the year, a total of 30 boats reached the Canarian coasts, 19 more than in the same period of 2017.

06.10.2018 - In the last two weeks two boats arrived in Gran Canaria and one, with 48 on board, in Lanzarote.  On October 1, 33 men from the Maghreb arrived in two boats in northern Lanzarote.  Another 22 people were rescued off the coast of Gran Canaria and 16 North Africans landed their boats in Haría in the north of Lanzarote.
