Rescue operations in Tenerife and La Palma
The thin air on Mount Teide should not be underestimated. Not everyone can tolerate the lack of oxygen at such a high altitude, especially asthmatics. A hiker felt the effects of this in his own body on Sunday. He suffered serious health problems and had to be evacuated by a GES helicopter. He was taken to a medical centre.
A hiker in La Palma fell several metres close to the LP-4 near Puntallana. He suffered a moderate leg injury. After his rescue, he was taken to the general hospital.
