Two police officers injured in street attack
The National Police have arrested two men aged 28 and 25 years in Adeje who are accused of attacking and injuring two National Police officers who were in front of a nightclub in the borough of Adeje, in southern Tenerife, when they were suddenly attacked on the open road, completely unexpectedly. When they identified themselves as police officers, this had no deterrent effect, but increased the aggression of the attackers. One of them was trained in martial arts. Only when reinforcements arrived did they abandon their victims.
One of the officers was unconscious, and the attacker stole the other's mobile phone. Both were injured, one so severely that he had to undergo jaw surgery. The suspects were found and arrested a short time later, and have now appeared in court charged with bodily injury, robbery, and attacking a police officer.
