Three dead dolphins found in the first week of the year
A total of three dolphins were washed up dead on the coasts of Fuerteventura in the first week of January. The first one was on New Year's Day at Rosa de las Aguas near Puerto Lajas. The animal was in an advanced state of decay, therefore it is not possible to determine the cause of death.

13.01.2019 - The situation was different with the two animals that appeared on the coasts in the following days.  On the second of January a dead bottlenose dolphin was reported by the Guardia Civil in Puerto del Rosario.  A few days later, on January 5, a blue-white striped dolphin was found at Playa de El Matorral.  The two specimens were taken to the University Institute of Animal Health for autopsy.
