Loro Parque Foundation school project
The Loro Parque Foundation, via its Education Department, has started the educational project La arena de nuestra playa (the sand on our beaches), which analyses plastic contamination on the Canary Islands beaches. Pupils from different schools on the island, together with teachers from the Foundation, are studying the sand from different beaches in the archipelago to determine the differences. Between January and March, the approximately 400 participating students from Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and La Gomera will take samples from 24 different beaches and study the sand.

21.02.2019 - They will have to share their experiences and results on a blog, YouTube or other channels.  By May, the results from all the schools will be presented to create a community card by the end of the school year. This project continues what has already begun in other initiatives through the Loro Parque Education Department in schools. During the 2017-2018 school year, young Canarians, through this project, were able to study the presence of micro plastics on the beaches near their schools.  They discovered the alarming contamination of the beaches of the archipelago and helped to keep them clean.
