The best Tenerife cheese
In April, at the regional cheese fair in La Orotava, the hard cheese made from pasteurised mixed cows' and goats' milk, wrapped in a gofio coating and produced by the Montesdeoca dairy, was chosen as the best cheese in Tenerife. A total of 83 cheeses from all the islands were presented and tasted at the fair. Other prizes went to traditionally produced cheeses as well as to those processed with vegetable acidifiers and thus not traditionally. In this last category, the cheese dairy Fuente de la Tosca won with a semi-hard goat cheese made from raw milk.
