German mother and child found dead
Yesterday, a large contingent of police, firefighters, military and other emergency service officers searched for the woman and her ten-year-old child who had been missing in a rural area of Adeje since Tuesday. Over 100 people, supported by a dog squadron on the ground and several helicopters from the air, were involved in the search. The thick low clouds made the search more difficult. At the end of the day, however, there was a sad discovery, both the woman and her child were found dead in a cave in the La Quinta/Ifonche area. They had probably been beaten to death. Mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga admitted that the evidence suggests that this was a case of domestic violence and that the husband of the woman and father of the children had been arrested as the main suspect. To date, however, he has made no statements and merely claims to have left the family behind in the mountains after a walk. The couple's other six year old son was the one who raised the alarm, after escaping from the scene. The investigation has shown that the man apparently lives in Adeje for longer periods of time, but is not registered as a resident there. The family 'came and went'. There was no previous report of domestic violence in the family.
