Octopus confiscated
Inspectors from the Canary Islands Government Fisheries Department recently confiscated 29.5 kilograms of octopus from a restaurant in Arrecife, Lanzarote, which was stored in several bags in the animal freezer and for which the restaurateur could not provide any proof of origin. The octopus were confiscated and the restaurany owner was charged. The inspectors once again pointed out that all fish and seafood sold in restaurants or fish shops must be proven to be of legal and controlled origin.
