Eleven injured in three accidents
Eleven injured, that was the balance for Sunday, when there were three serious accidents. The worst of these occurred on the access road to Mount Teide, on the TF-21, near El Portillo, when a motorcyclist collided with a car at about 2pm. A 51-year-old suffered serious injuries and was flown by helicopter to the HUC University Hospital in La Laguna. Five other people, three men and two women, were slightly injured in the accident and taken to the Bellevue Hospital in Puerto de la Cruz and HUC University Hospital.
There were also two other accidents on Sunday. In San Miguel de Abona, a car with three passengers left the road and caught fire. A 31-year-old man suffered moderate cervical spine injuries and abdominal bruising. The other two, aged 26 and 27 years, were slightly injured. The injured were taken to two clinics in the south of the island. The fire brigade extinguished the burning vehicle and took care of cleaning the road. The third accident happened in the area of Puerto de la Madera in Tacoronte, where a car overturned. The driver and passenger, two young men aged 20 and 21 years, were taken to the HUC University Hospital in La Laguna with moderate injuries.
