Dutch court decides in favour of Loro Parque
For the tenth time activists from the Free Morgan Foundation (FMF) have fought against the CITES permit, which allowed the female orca Morgan to be moved from Holland to Loro Parque in Tenerife. Ten attempts have already been made by various courts, administrative authorities and the European Parliament to deal with the case, and for the tenth time the activists were rejected.
Morgan had been found almost dead off the Dutch coast. She has since been found to be deaf and therefore unable to survive in the wild. Since 2011 she has lived at Loro Parque, where a special form of communication has been created with hand signals and light stimuli, with which the trainers can communicate with the animal. She has been fully integrated into the group and even became a mother last year.
For Loro Parque, "it is very important that both the judicial and administrative bodies competent in this matter recognise and highlight the excellent conditions in our park, as this confirmation comes from bodies and authorities which are absolutely impartial and independent, and this is despite the continuous and disqualifying campaigns carried out by radical groups to defame us and discredit us with lies and false statements that distort the truth. They also take a clear negative stance towards the courts if they do not allow their complaints".
