Volunteer helpers wanted to clear beach of stone towers
Next Saturday, the Fundación Telesforo Bravo - Juan Cuello Foundation is calling for volunteers to meet behind the Castillo de San Felipe in Puerto de la Cruz to dismantle stone towers together. For some it may be an interesting photo shoot and for others it may be a ritual to turn the stones on the beach into towers. But for the foundation activists, who fight for nature to be preserved in its original state without people leaving their traces of having been there, it is first and foremost a thorn in the side. Therefore, many helping hands are asked to put the stones back in an appropriate place according to instructions. Because what many do not notice is that they offer insects and other living beings habitat and protection, which is omitted by removing the stones. The restoration of the coastal strip directly behind the Castillo San Felipe was also authorised by the Island and Town Councils and coastal authorities. If you would like to participate, you can register by sending an e-mail to infopasasinhuella@gmail.com . The meeting time is on July 20 at 10am. The foundation not only fights against this fad, but also for other bad habits with which visitors leave their traces in nature. To counteract this, it is working with the Fred Olsen shipping company, which is showing educational videos on its voyages between Tenerife and La Gomera and between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
