At least 14 people who dined recently in a restaurant at Playa Honda in Lanzarote had to be treated for salmonella poisoning at the Hospital Doctor Molina Orosa in Arrecife. The health department, headed by Noelia Umpiérez, has closed the restaurant. Currently an investigation is underway to determine whether there are more victims or whether contaminated food has been taken away with them. It is still unclear where to look for the salmonella outbreak that caused the poisoning. It was first suspected in a tortilla, but the affected guests also ate croquettes and chicken. |
