Daily news from the Canaries and the islands' biggest English language newspaper on-line
To help the British holidaymakers who were stranded in Gran Canaria due to the collapse of Thomas Cook last week, the island was approached by an extraordinarily large flying object. Last Thursday evening, the largest Airbus in the world, an A380, stood on the runway. Never before has this giant, the largest commercial aircraft in the world, been used in the Canary Islands. It has a capacity for 486 passengers and is a real giant of the skies. When you see other aircraft standing next to it, you can really appreciate its immense size. It had come to fly the British holidaymakers home, making an unexpected surprise for the holidaymakers whose vacation ended badly.
