An inmate at the Tahiche prison in Lanzarote tried to commit suicide in his cell on Thursday. A security guard discovered the man while he was trying to hang himself and was able to thwart this attempt at the last minute. He sounded the alarm and, together with colleagues and other inmates, a life was saved.
