02.01.2006 - Under the new law, which came into force yesterday, lighting up is banned in the workplace and could well be off the menu in hundreds of bars and restaurants, which have to advertise clearly if they accept smokers on the premises. Breaches of the ban could render smokers liable to a fine of up to 300 euros. The number of outlets authorised to sell tobacco products has also been cut by almost 50% by the stricter rules.
